Quick answers on scanning, collections, checklists, pricing, and more

Card Scanning

How do I upload my cards?

You can do this on Web and Mobile (iOS & Android). Just follow these steps:

On Mobile (iOS & Android):
1. Tap the "Scan" button.
2. You can either take a new photo with your camera or upload an existing photo from your gallery.
3. Our AI will then identify the card and add it to your collection.

On the Web App:
1. Navigate to the "Add Card" section.
2. Upload an existing photo of your card (front and back is best).
3. Our AI will identify the card from the uploaded image.

What if my card isn't recognized correctly?

You can manually edit any card details after scanning. Simply tap on the card in your collection and use the edit function to correct player name, year, set, or any other information. Your edits will be saved automatically.

Tips for better scanning results

• Use good lighting - natural light works best
• Keep the card flat and avoid glare
• Fill the frame with the card
• Make sure text is clear and readable
• Scan both front and back for best results
• Clean your camera lens for sharper images

Tablet scanning issues (iPad & Android)

iPad with Stage Manager:
If you're using an iPad with Stage Manager in windowed mode, the camera screen may rotate unexpectedly. This is an iPadOS limitation - Apple doesn't allow apps to lock orientation when running in a window.

Solution: Use SetScribe in full-screen mode when scanning cards:
• Drag the app window to fill the screen
• Or disable Stage Manager in Settings > Home Screen & Multitasking

Android Tablets:
On Android tablets, card scanning uses manual crop mode only. After taking a photo, you'll adjust the crop box to fit your card. The crop box starts as a square and can be resized to any shape.

This gives you full control over the final image, which works better for the variety of screen sizes on Android tablets.

Collections

How do I organize my collection?

You can organize your collection by team, player, year, set, or sport. Use the filter and search functions to quickly find specific cards. You can also add personal notes and mark cards as favorites for easy access.

Can I share my collection?

Yes! Turn any collection into an online gallery and share it with a link, or share individual cards using your phone's built-in sharing on iOS and Android. Everything is private by default - you control exactly what goes public, and you can change it anytime. You can also follow other collectors to explore their public collections. Want to see how it works? Check out our Shared Collection Demo.

How do I add cards manually?

You can add cards manually by tapping the "+" button and selecting "Add Manually." Fill in the card details like player name, year, set, and manufacturer. You can also add photos from your gallery or take new ones.

Can I import my existing collection?

Yes. Our CSV Import tool allows you to upload your collection from any spreadsheet program (like Excel or Google Sheets). Simply save your sheet as a CSV file to get started.

You'll be asked to map your spreadsheet columns to SetScribe's card fields. The only required field is the player's first name; all other fields are optional.

The import process runs in the background, and you'll receive a notification when it's complete.

Account Management

How do I change my username?

Go to Settings > Account Management to update your username, display name, and profile picture. Your username must be unique and can contain letters, numbers, and underscores.

Is my data synced across devices?

Yes! Your collection and account data are automatically synced across all devices where you're signed in. Changes made on one device will appear on all others within a few seconds.

Checklists

Can I share my checklists?

Yes! Make a checklist public to share it with a link - great for sending your want list to friends or trading partners. Browsing and copying public checklists from the community is coming soon.

How do checklists work?

Build a checklist for any set, player, or project. Each item tracks card, auto, and memorabilia slots - fill them by assigning cards you own or checking them off manually, and watch your progress update. Use the visual board for collecting and the spreadsheet-style Items view for fast cleanup.

Can I create my own checklist?

Yes! Create custom checklists for any collecting goal. Start from a template like Player, Team, or Rookies (or start blank), add items manually or import from a CSV, then keep it private or share it with a link.

Privacy & Security

Is my collection data private?

Yes, your collection data is private by default. You control what you share with the community. You can choose to keep your entire collection private, share specific cards, or contribute to community checklists. Your privacy and security are our top priorities.

Can I use SetScribe on multiple devices?

Absolutely! SetScribe syncs your collection across all your devices. Scan cards on your phone, then browse and organize your collection on your tablet or computer. Your data is always up-to-date no matter which device you're using.
